Current World Issues

We've gotten to know the political candidates a little. How well do you know yourself politically? These assessments are meant to find out. Please take both assessments. Assessment #1   Assessment #2. How did the results compare with one another? Did you agree with the findings? Why or why not?

Entry Activity: What is Super Tuesday? What is at stake? Where do the candidates currently stand?

DIRECTIONS for Blog Activities:
  1. Read an article posted to the right carefully. You may choose a 'related article' hyperlinked in blue if you like. Don't be afraid to bring information in from other articles you've read on the same topic!
  2. Summarize your article, being sure to tell us SPECIFICALLY what you read (name of the article!). Offer an opinion about the article.
  3. Pose a question, or offer a comment on the article in order to stimulate conversation and learning.
  4. Somewhere in your post, respond to someone else's ideas in a meaningful way!
Use your rubric to assure success! Remember- proper conventions are a must. Avoid shortcut lingo that might be appropriate for other social media.

World History

The next unit will be called "The Muslim World". We will discuss the spread of Islam throughout the Middle East and also look carefully at the Five Pillars of Islam. We will also be reviewing the geography of the Middle East.

Geography Link - please practice!

U.S. History:

Please get a solid start to second semester as we learn about World War I! We will look at how military strategy and technology can sometimes be at odds with one another! Do you think an angry seventeen year old can really spark a war?

Secondly, click here to do the Egyptian Scavenger Hunt! This is fun, but challenging. I assure you the answers are there, but some of them take a bit to find! Enjoy the journey- it is as much about what you see along the way!
Finish early and want to see images of the many things Egyptians mummified? Click here!
